Israeli humanitarian NGO partners with Team Rubicon to support affected communities in Kentucky

Tuesday 14 December 2021. For immediate release:

After devastating tornadoes caused major damage and loss of life across the central and southern United States on Friday night, Israeli non-governmental humanitarian aid agency IsraAID has mobilized an Emergency Response Team to support recovery and cleanup efforts in affected communities. At least 74 people have been killed in Kentucky alone, in what Gov. Andy Beshear described as ‘the most devastating tornado event’ in the state’s history.

IsraAID’s team will arrive in the affected area in Kentucky in the coming days. IsraAID’s team will join up with teams from partner Team Rubicon, the international disaster response organization founded by U.S. military veterans, and work closely with local authorities to assess the situation and identify communities and households in need of support.

In recent years, IsraAID has responded to repeated disasters and emergencies in the U.S., focusing on supporting households who are uninsured or ineligible for government support. Since 2017, IsraAID has provided disaster relief to communities affected by hurricanes in Florida, Texas, North Carolina, and Puerto Rico, and repeated wildfires in Northern California.

IsraAID’s CEO, Yotam Polizer, said:

“Our thoughts are with the communities across the affected area who have been left reeling by Friday’s tornadoes and with the families who have lost loved ones. Our team will arrive there soon and will do everything they can to support people in need, together with our partners from Team Rubicon.”

IsraAID’s Emergency Fund ensures the organization can provide an urgent and immediate response to crises around the world. Donations to support IsraAID’s response to future crises can be made here.
