Statement on the rocket attack on Kryvyi Rih
IsraAID is devastated by the Russian strike on a residential neighborhood in Kryvyi Rih last week. With 19 people killed, including 9 children, and over 60 people injured, our hearts are with the community as they mourn and heal from this attack. IsraAID remains committed to the communities we work with in the city of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovska Oblast, and across Ukraine that are grappling with the widespread impacts of this war. This attack contributes to the already staggering humanitarian needs in the country more than three years after the full-scale Russian invasion. The resilience of these communities is our strongest inspiration, and we will continue to work to support them in any and every way we can.
Rising attacks on civilian infrastructure only sharpen the need for mental health and psychosocial support programs, safe spaces for children, access to shelters, and safe water. In Dnipropetrovska Oblast, IsraAID is working to establish additional child-friendly spaces with access to shelters, ensure that mental health professionals are stationed in hospitals to support patients and medical staff, provide access to safe water, and more. We call on the international and philanthropic community to continue supporting Ukrainian communities as these attacks exacerbate an already dire humanitarian situation.
IsraAID began responding to the ongoing war in Ukraine just days after the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022. The organization provides safe water access, psychosocial support, health programs, child-friendly spaces, educational support, livelihood programs, and more – serving over 400,000 people across the south and east of Ukraine.
